Prep Notes

This smoothie has become a staple in my kitchen. Although I love to experiment and try new combinations, I always turn to this recipe when I need a chocolate fix or quick pick me up. It's full of healthy fats and protein that curb my appetite and satisfy that hunger hormone! This is also a great smoothie if your are new to cooking with cacao, and are looking for a more familiar flavor to start with!

Ingredients

1 frozen banana

3 large pitted dates

2 tbs cacao powder

1 tbs peanut butter

1 tbs coconut oil

1 tsp flax seed

2 cups almond milk

2 scoops collagen or protein powder of choice*

*the protein powder is totally optional in this smoothie. I like to add it in if I am having it for breakfast because the extra protein helps keep me feeling full and balanced. Collagen also has many extra health benefits. It helps to heal the gut lining, and is good for the joints, hair, skin, and nails. Collagen is an animal product, so if you are vegetarian, be conscious when choosing a protein powder!

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
